Thermometers
There are so many thermometers on the market that it’s hard to know which one to choose. It seems to be the case that often you start with one and work your way through several more until you find one that is both accurate and easy to use on a sometimes less than co-operative patient! From our experience you can’t go past the ‘Braun Thermoscan IRT Ear Thermometer’, it will set you back around $90 – $120 but is well worth it. It is extremely accurate and is favoured by doctors for this reason. Be wary of thermometers that take a reading from a distance or from the forehead, as despite their claims they can sometimes be inaccurate! (Speaking from personal experience). The most accurate area to take a reading of body temperature is from the ear canal.
